Sir Chistopher Wren was born in England in 1632 and grew up during the troubled and violent times of the English Civil War. He was educated at Oxford University before becoming Professor of Astronomy at Gresham College, London in 1657.  He also excelled at mathematics and physics as well as becoming arguably the greatest ever English architect transforming the skyline of London with spectacular buildings including St Paul's Cathedral and The Royal Navy College at Greenwich.  In 1660 he helped establish the Royal Society and served as its president between 1680 to 1682 and also served as a Member of Parliament. He died in 1723.
