Bessie Coleman was the first woman of African American and Native American descent to become an aviator performing stunts in airshows in the US in the 1920’s.

Nellie Bly was a pioneering investigative journalist who exposed the conditions in a women’s asylum in 1887 New York by going undercover.

Maria Mitchell was an astronomist and mathematician who discovered a comet in 1847 bringing her international acclaim.
